Nancy Norton

I was born and raised in the Boston area. In 1983 I graduated from Boston College with a degree in Economics. After college, I worked for various financial services firms for five years, and then decided to pursue a career in the law. I received my law degree from New England Law School in 1992.

Nancy Norton Attorney I was inspired to become a lawyer by my uncle, John Norton, a successful family law attorney for over 40 years. Uncle John is a humble, compassionate man. He remains a highly-regarded attorney in his retirement years, who willingly shares his wisdom with other lawyers at family law seminars.

For the past 15 years, I was employed as in-house counsel by State Street Bank & Trust Company. State Street Bank is a global financial services company (and the third largest asset manager in the world). I negotiated multi-million dollar agreements with other financial institutions and worked closely with management to resolve contract disputes and minimize potential business risks. I also advised business teams on legal and regulatory issues related to employee benefit plans and employment law matters.

I had the good fortune to be able to move to Jackson eight years ago (working virtually for State Street Bank from my home office in South Park). A chance opportunity a few months ago turned into my coming to work at the Cohen Law Office earlier this month.

With my background in financial services, I have experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, advising on business transactions and handling various employee benefit law matters related to retirement plans and executive compensation plans. Currently, I am studying immigration law and hope to assist clients with immigration issues.

Over the past few years I have been helping clients with family law, custody and support issues through the Teton County Access to Justice Center on a part time basis. I have been interested in expanding my experience in this area of the law and look forward to working with Ken and the team at Cohen Law Office.

Outside of work I love to ski, hike, jog, bike and throw tennis balls for my Golden Retriever, Apollo. I also enjoy visiting family back East during the off-season. For better or worse, I am a fan of the sports teams in Boston, and yes, that includes Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
